On December 26, 2007, St Eugene Chapel bade farewell to Rev Felix
Ilesanmi Osasona MSP (fondly called Father Ilesanmi), of the
Missionary Society of St Paul of Nigeria, who had been the Chaplain
and Administrator of the Church since 2003, as he took his leave to
assume his new mission appointment in his Society's Office of
Mission Development in Houston Texas. Fr Ilesanmi was hardworking
and quite innovative in St Eugene as he, with strong collaboration
of his parishioners, assiduously applied himself in a
profound spirit of love and apostolic generosity and dedication to
the building up of the church and the people of God entrusted to his
pastoral care. St Eugene today gives thanks to God for what He has
done in this church through the instrumentality of Fr Ilesanmi.
In the same vein, St Eugene chapel welcomes Rev Georginus Ejiofor
Ugwu MSP (generally called Father Ejiofor, but fondly called Father
Ejios by his confreres) of the same Missionary Society of St Paul
of Nigeria, as the new Chaplain and Administrator of the Church.
Co-incidentally, Rev Ejiofor and Rev Ilesanmi were born in the same
month of the same year and also were classmates in the Seminary and
were ordained priests for the Missions, together on June 24, 2000,
in Abuja Nigeria. Rev Ejiofor was born on September 9, 1969 in Enugu
State, Nigeria. He started his seminary training with Nsukka Diocese
in Nigeria in 1990 but in 1991, he felt a special calling to the
Missionary Priesthood. He acted according to the promptings of the
Spirit.
After his ordination, he worked in Nigeria, his home country from
2000 to 2002. Then he was sent on foreign mission to the Republic of
Cameroon in Central Africa where he worked from 2002 to 2005. In
November 2005, he was sent to work in Houston Texas as the Assistant
Director of his Society's Office of Mission Development whose main
duty is fundraising for the Society's foreign Missions. There he
worked until his appointment in December 2007, as the
Chaplain/Administrator of St Eugene Chapel & Student Center. What a
further co-incidence and crossing of paths for these two gentlemen!
Fr Ejiofor, St Eugene Chapel welcomes you on board with joy; and
also with immense gratitude to the bishop of Pensacola-Tallahassee
Diocese, Most Reverend John H. Ricard.
